Brin Ohmsford is a fictional character from The Wishsong of Shannara, an epic fantasy[1] novel by Terry Brooks.
She is the daughter of Wil Ohmsford, making her actually 1/16 Elf, and because of his use of the Elfstones gained magic she named the wishsong. She is described as looking like her mother Eretria and having her father's calmer temperament. Unlike her brother Jair Ohmsford, Brin's magic could create reality, or alter it. This led to the arrival of the Druid Allanon, who needed Brin's help to get past the Maelmord and destroy the Ildatch. Accompanied by Rone Leah, Brin and Allanon set out for the Maelmord.
Along the way, Brin came to horrifying realizations about the wishsong. For years she had believed it no more than a toy, yet now it was a deadly weapon. Her doubts grew with the death of Allanon, and Rone's growing addiction to the magic of the Sword of Leah. Along the way to the Maelmord, Brin met Cogline, Kimber Boh, and Whisper the moor cat, the latter two becoming her closest friends next to Rone. She also incurred the wrath of the Grimpond, a shade creature who told her how to get inside the Maelmord.
Brin came to a decision to leave her companions, so as to save them from death. However, this turned against her when the Ildatch, proving to be a corruptive and sentient force, began to transform her into something evil. Luckily for all, she was saved by her brother Jair, and destroyed the Ildatch. Afterwards, she met with the shade of Allanon, who told her not to use her magic again.
Brin married Rone Leah, and at some point in the next 300 years, her family line would mix with Kimber Boh's, and the Druid trust given her by Allanon would be assumed by the last of her bloodline and the first Druid of the Third Council: Walker Boh. This is stated in the short story "Indomitable", following the original series.
